The Marsden Brewhouse: Restaurant Review

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

The Marsden Brewhouse is a hotel and brewery located in Marsden Park, north-west Sydney.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

Since opening in April 2019, the Marsden Brewhouse is believed to be the largest hotel in Western Sydney. It contains multiple bars and dining areas, a TAB, gaming lounge, in house craft brewery, function area, sports screens, children’s play area and also hosts live music on weekends.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

Reservations are a good idea on weekends, as even though the Brewhouse is huge, it’s popular with large groups and fills up fast. You can make a reservation online but I would suggest calling instead fo get a table in the right area for your needs.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

The Marsden Brewhouse is a large, bright space, with different themed spaces. Families will gravitate towards the cheery dining area near the restaurant area that is nearest to the playground.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

Seating is also available on the outdoor terrace, located right next to the playground, perfect for keeping en eye on kids.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

The playground is large and has lots of interesting elements to suit kids of various age groups.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

A little cubby house, swings and stream / water features for littlies, and a huge climbing frame for older kids and a small and large slide.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

There is partial shade cloth coverage over the play area, however not over the steel climbing frame.

There are restrooms very handily available for kids to use right in the playground area.

On weekends the Brewhouse also often has a farm animal area set up in the playground for kids to enjoy free of charge.

The menu is huge and has a good variety of traditional pub food as well as a kids/ menu, woodfired pizzas (gluten-free bases are available) and options for vegetarian / vegan / gluten-free.

Kids’ meals come with a complementary drink. At time of writing the kids’ meals included pasta bolognese, cheeseburger with chips or vegetables, grilled chicken breast with chips or vegetables, calamari with chips or vegetables, battered fish with chips or vegetables, ham and pineapple pizza (can be made without the ham), $10 each. A cheese and crackers pack including seasonal fruit and berries, vege sticks is $15.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

We ordered the Kids’ Pizza (no ham, $10), Heirloom Tomato & Buffalo Burrata Bruschetta, (with basil & EVOO on toasted organic sourdough, $13), Grilled Chicken, Pumpkin & Haloumi (chargrilled chicken breast on the side, grilled haloumi, spinach, roasted red capsicums, toasted nuts & grains & lemon herb dressing, $24), and All Day Brunch Bowl (raw shredded vegetables, avocado, black rice, okra, sprouting grains, red peppers, mushrooms, fried free range egg & sesame lime chili sauce, $23).

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

Meals are ordered and paid for at the counter, where you are given a buzzer for collection meals when they’re ready. Drinks can be ordered at the nearby bar. We found the meals to be made very quickly even on a busy day, and were impressed at the freshness and taste of the food we ordered.

Marsden Brewhouse, Sydney

There is also a gelato cart which is very popular in summer.

Parking is available either outside around the front of the Brewhouse, or undercover, which is my preferred option for hot days.

Ryde Park is a popular Sydney park featuring a bike and scooter track, basketball court, playground and cafe.

Trees have been planted but it will be a while before they will give any shade. A water fountain at the entrance of the park is handy if you visit on a hot day.

Ryde Park: The Grounds Keeper Cafe, Playground & Scooter + Bike Track

Ryde Park: The Grounds Keeper Cafe, Playground & Scooter Bike Track, Sydney, Australia

Sydney’s Northwest is spoiled for choice with excellent parks, playgrounds and cafes. Ryde Park, in particular, is a special spot. It’s a huge park complete with sporting grounds, basketball court, playground, picnic facilities, a brand new scooter and bike track, plus the excellent Grounds Keeper Cafe.

Ryde Park: The Grounds Keeper Cafe, Playground & Scooter + Bike Track

Grounds Keeper Cafe, Ryde, Sydney, Australia

The Grounds Keeper Cafe was formerly known as Ryde Park Cafe before its makeover in 2013 by owner Sam Hayek. The menu has a Middler Eastern flavour to it, with dishes on offer such as Kafta Tagine Eggs (Clay pot baked free range eggs with spiced lamb kafta and served with pita bread and labna, $19) Chilli Eggs (Spicy avocado and tomato salsa on toasted sourdough, free range poached eggs, topped with Dukkah and drizzled with balsamic glaze, $19) and Hummus Awarma (Traditional Lebanese breakfast of hummus topped with fried eggs, slow cooked lamb, toasted almonds and fresh mint served with Lebanese bread, $22).

Brekkie is served until 11:30am, when the lunch menu kicks in. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and also those on a gluten-free diet.

Grounds Keeper Cafe, Ryde, Sydney, Australia

Kids can choose from the Little Grounds Keeper Breakfast Menu, which features dishes from $6.50-$9.50 including choice of eggs with bacon with toast $9.50, ham and cheese omelette with toast, pancakes and a ham and cheese toastie. The Little Grounds Keeper Lunch Menu has dishes from $9.50-12.50 including wagyu cheese burger, penne napolitana, grilled chicken tenderloins with fries and kafta skewers with fries.

Tables are able to be booked in advance – which I highly recommend for weekends as it’s a very popular cafe. We didn’t book and were lucky enough to get a table straight away for our party of 7. Food came quickly after it was ordered and was cooked to perfection.

Grounds Keeper Cafe, Ryde, Sydney, Australia

My Pancakes On The Grounds (layered home made pancakes topped with mascarpone, fresh strawberry, crushed pistachio, pure maple and caramel syrup and dusted with icing sugar) were a work of art and incredibly delicious.

The eggs on toast with added sides got a thumbs up from hubby and our friend who ordered the same.

Grounds Keeper Cafe, Ryde, Sydney, Australia

The Grounds Keeper Cafe is incredibly popular with families in particular and it’s easy to see why. The food is incredible and service fast, even on a super busy day.

Grounds Keeper Cafe, Ryde, Sydney, Australia

There is a reasonably-sized playground under shade directly outside the cafe, which is particularly good if you have to wait for a table or your meal. There are bathrooms behind the cafe including a baby change table and disabled toilet. The cafe and playground are also extremely accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. Wheelchairs are able to wheel directly into the cafe and up to the tables.

The Vogue Cafe, Macquarie Centre: Kid-Friendly Cafes, Sydney

The Vogue Cafe: Kid-Friendly Cafes #Sydney via christineknight.me

Rainy days in Sydney just destroy me. Especially when the rain has set in for weeks and we are all getting a serious case of cabin fever. On one such rainy day we head over to the Macquarie Centre for lunch and shopping (along with half of Sydney, it seemed). After the stress of finding a car park was over, we head straight to The Vogue Cafe for lunch.

The Vogue Cafe, #Sydney #kidfriendly via christineknight.me

The Vogue Cafe is such an interesting little place. It sits inside the shopping centre, and even has a seating area that is pretty much in the car park, but it’s an adorable, whimsical place, and it’s hard to remember that you’re actually in a shopping centre.

The staff are all very sweet and assure me that they are very kid-friendly. There are a lot of families having lunch when we arrive, as well as lots of young couples who are possibly big kids at heart.

The Vogue Cafe, #Sydney #kidfriendly via christineknight.me

The Vogue Cafe feels a bit like something out of Wonderland. While the menu is pretty straightforward, they are known for their fantastical shakes. Called “Magical Milkshakes”, they are topped with things like whipped cream, rice bubbles, pop corn and jelly snakes, with a chocolate and sprinkles rim. The weekly specials are even fancier.

The cafe is popular and we have to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The service is fast, and after we order, everything starts to arrive quickly. The kids milkshake arrives first, which is perfect for wriggly kids.

The Vogue Cafe, #Sydney #kidfriendly via christineknight.me

We ordered the TVC Mix Up (scrambled eggs tossed with feta and basil, served with soy and linseed toast, $12.50), sides of grilled tomato ($2) and avocado ($2), Benny Dict (salmon, two poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, chives, served in chiabatta bread, $16.50), BEB (egg and bacon baguette served with BBQ sauce ($8), Kids Sourdough Soldiers (with vegemite, $4), Hot Chips ($7), Kids Magic Milkshake (chocolate, $4), Magic Milkshakes (vanilla and strawberry, $7 each), Nutella Milkshake (8).

The Vogue Cafe, #Sydney #kidfriendly via christineknight.me

The food is great. While they are known for their milkshakes, their food is really delicious and also very well priced. My eggs are a huge serving that I can’t finish. Probably because I also drank that giant Nutella milkshake first.

The Nutella milkshake is what The Vogue Cafe is well known for, and it did not disappoint. The milkshake was creamy and delicious, and I really enjoyed the quirky waffle cone filled with gummy snakes on top.

In early 2018 the Vogue Cafe added a little enclosed play area for small kids, perfect for toddlers or preschoolers.
