šŸ’« G R A T E F U L šŸ’« To be isolated on our li šŸ’« G R A T E F U L šŸ’« To be isolated on our little-big island, to have a family who hasn’t been touched by COVID (touch wood), that school will be going back in person in a few weeks, to feel safe. Who would have thought that these would be things we would need to be thankful for in Australia in 2021? I’ve been feeling incredibly down lately about the repeated outbreaks in NSW shutting us in the state for the past 10 months, so some perspective has been needed today to shake off the ā˜ļø and do what I try to teach the child - to practice gratitude for what we have instead of focusing on what we don’t. Photo taken in the Royal National Park where we had a great walk despite being attacked by bull ants. 🐜 #royalnationalpark #audley #bushwalks #bushwalksšŸ‘£ #nationalpark
I really have no words to describe 2020. While I’m grateful that we are safe here in Australia while so many others around the world are not, it’s been strange to not be able to leave the state let alone the country all year. As a real planner I’ve struggled with not being able to plan a thing past the day we are living. Zoom school nearly destroyed us all. We’ve missed our family living overseas and worry constantly about their health. I’ve had to learn how to live in the moment, and have worked on my patience endlessly. I am grateful we were able to see more of NSW, including areas we had never been before such as Cowra and the spectacular @visitlordhoweisland. I can’t believe it took a pandemic to bring us to this piece of paradise. The optimistic side of me hopes 2021 will be better once we kick this year to the curb, but if anything 2020 has taught me it’s that accepting the situation at hand and taking each day as it comes are the only way to ride this pandemic out. This too shall pass - one 😷 day at a time. #newyearseve #newyearseve2020 #goodbye2020

Magical @visitlordhoweisland is a special little s Magical @visitlordhoweisland is a special little spot that feels a lot more isolated from the rest of the world than the 2 hour flight from Sydney that it is. The World Heritage listed island is the world’s most southern choral reef and home to incredible species of birds, sea life and plants that are not found anywhere else on the planet. Only 400 visitors can stay on the island at any one time, so it felt like we had paradise pretty much to ourselves. More to come on this very special place. #lordhoweisland @visitlordhoweisland
School is out for the year! 🄳 A little trip to School is out for the year! 🄳 A little trip to @thegrounds today kicked off our holiday spirit with the delightful Cinderella installation that now has a Christmas overlay. Double the magic! #TheGroundsxCinderella.
Aaaaaaand just like that, live theatre is back! We Aaaaaaand just like that, live theatre is back! We saw @pippinaustralia today, our first live show since January at the @sydneylyrictheatre @thestarsydney. Pippin was created in 1972 by the legendary Bob Fosse and seeing his choreography brought to life by the talented cast brought a tear to my eye. It was just wonderful to have theatre conversations again and to be able to show my own tiny dancer an incredible example of one of the world’s most iconic choreographers, whose Broadway legacy still lives on. The arts are a mirror though which we view ourselves, and Pippin showed us the difficulties faced in looking for fulfillment. Do we opt for a simple life, or does happiness only come though achieving greatness? How do we find our path when we are feeling lost, and are faced with social pressures telling us what we ā€œshouldā€ be doing with our lives? We highly enjoyed #Pippin (recommended for over 8 years of age but be warned there are some quite adult themes) - what a marvelous return to the theatre! #pippinthemusical #lyrictheatre #sydneytheatre #sydneymusical @ippublicity_

I’ve never noticed the blooms around Sydney as m I’ve never noticed the blooms around Sydney as much as I have this spring. Is the city always such a riot of colour? Is my head usually turned in search of more exotic destinations and I just haven’t noticed? I’ve had my senses awoken this year and spent the past few months in love with my home, awash with a rainbow of vibrant petals. The grand finale, the stunning jacaranda, is now taking its final bow. Thank you Sydney for the stunning botanical show. @rbgsydney #jacaranda #jacarandaseason #jacarandatree #rbgsydney @rock_your_baby

ā€œDo you suppose she’s a wildflower?ā€ 🌸 I’ve never seen as many flowers in NSW as I’ve seen these past few weeks. We found these little bursts of sunshine inside the #kuringaichasenationalpark, but really, flowers are blooming everywhere if you know where to look. The jacarandas are now starting to blossom and I can’t wait to see Sydney under its annual purple reign. šŸ’œPs the quote is a clue as to little miss’ book week costume she’s wearing tomorrow. Can you guess what character she is dressing as? #sydneyspring #wildflowers @kuringgai_council #kuringgainationalpark #kuringgai
We really enjoyed trying the new Nuts about Taste We really enjoyed trying the new Nuts about Taste menu at @pnutstreetnoodles. Authentic Thai street food right here in Sydney! The Roti Canai with satay sauce and Nutella Spring Roll (yes you read that right) are a must-try, and all P’Nut outlets offer nut-free, gluten-free, and vegan variants on most dishes - perfect for our family with two of the three of us vegetarians. Full review on the blog (link in profile). #pnutstreetnoodles #nutsabouttaste #collab
A close encounter of the kookaburra-kind at the @p A close encounter of the kookaburra-kind at the @pskoalasanctuary. The sanctuary opened up three weeks ago with a state-of-the-art wildlife hospital and ICU for sick and injured koalas. There is no touching koalas here or chances for a selfie - just a whole lot of healing of koalas in the most incredible natural environment, complete with glamping tents for overnight stays. We learned so much about the koalas 🐨 and left better educated and even more committed to their conservation. Swipe šŸ‘‰šŸ» for more pics. #portstephenskoalas #koalas #portstephens #koalasanctuary

Spring is my favorite time of year and this year i Spring is my favorite time of year and this year it feels even more special than usual. After the long six months of lock down, winter, then the resurgence in Sydney that quite frankly terrified the crap out of me, spring has bloomed and with it, hope. Photo taken by the very talented @sunandmoon.au at the @rbgsydney, which are in full bloom right now and just divine. #royalbotanicgardens #sydneybotanicgardens #sydneybotanicalgardens #botanicgarden #botanicgardens.
A stunning day at #kuringgaichasenationalpark on t A stunning day at #kuringgaichasenationalpark on the #americabaytrack. This beautiful view is the reward at the end of a very manageable 1km walk through wildflowers and scribbly gums and with some Aboriginal etchings along the way. We are making the most of these strange times to see as much as we can of our own back yard. @kuringgai_council #kuringgainationalpark #kuringgai
@vangoghalivesydney opened in Sydney this week. It @vangoghalivesydney opened in Sydney this week. It’s the first cultural event we’ve been to in over 7 months and I can’t say how much we enjoyed just being surrounded by art again. I felt a lightness inside that I haven’t felt since last summer being able to immerse myself in such beauty once more. We wandered, watched and even danced throughout the exhibition. Thank you #vangoghalivesydney for bringing art back into our lives in such a spectacular way. #vangogh @grande_exhibitions @themagencyau @pollackconsulting

Canberra, we ā¤ļø you! Always one of our top spo Canberra, we ā¤ļø you! Always one of our top spots for a family road trip, it’s really a fab year-round destination. We loved seeing snow at Corin Forest this past winter, and now as we are into spring, it’s the perfect time to go to see cherry blossoms and tulips in bloom. This lookout at Mt Ainsley is stunning and easy for little legs to manage as you can drive the entire way to the top šŸ˜…. @visitcanberra #mtainslie #mtainslielookout #mountainslie
Dreaming of Japan today while exploring our own ba Dreaming of Japan today while exploring our own backyard. This is the beautiful @wollongongbotanicgarden, located an hour and a half south of the Sydney CBD. The traditional Japanese bridge was gift to the City of Wollongong from the City of Kawasaki in 1993 to mark the fifth anniversary of their Sister City relationship.

The shape of the bridge is called taiko-bashi (drum bridge) in Japanese. If you look into the water from the top of the bridge you’ll see its reflection form the shape of a drum. @visitwollongong #visitwollongong @destination_nsw #ilovensw #japanesebridge
