I’ve never noticed the blooms around Sydney as m I’ve never noticed the blooms around Sydney as much as I have this spring. Is the city always such a riot of colour? Is my head usually turned in search of more exotic destinations and I just haven’t noticed? I’ve had my senses awoken this year and spent the past few months in love with my home, awash with a rainbow of vibrant petals. The grand finale, the stunning jacaranda, is now taking its final bow. We found these little bursts of sunshine inside the #kuringaichasenationalpark, but really, flowers are blooming everywhere if you know where to look. The Roti Canai with satay sauce and Nutella Spring Roll (yes you read that right) are a must-try, and all P’Nut outlets offer nut-free, gluten-free, and vegan variants on most dishes - perfect for our family with two of the three of us vegetarians. The sanctuary opened up three weeks ago with a state-of-the-art wildlife hospital and ICU for sick and injured koalas. There is no touching koalas here or chances for a selfie - just a whole lot of healing of koalas in the most incredible natural environment, complete with glamping tents for overnight stays. It’s the first cultural event we’ve been to in over 7 months and I can’t say how much we enjoyed just being surrounded by art again. I felt a lightness inside that I haven’t felt since last summer being able to immerse myself in such beauty once more. We wandered, watched and even danced throughout the exhibition. Canberra, we ❤️ you! Always one of our top spo Canberra, we ❤️ you! Always one of our top spots for a family road trip, it’s really a fab year-round destination. We loved seeing snow at Corin Forest this past winter, and now as we are into spring, it’s the perfect time to go to see cherry blossoms and tulips in bloom. Dreaming of Japan today while exploring our own ba Dreaming of Japan today while exploring our own backyard. This is the beautiful @wollongongbotanicgarden, located an hour and a half south of the Sydney CBD. The traditional Japanese bridge was gift to the City of Wollongong from the City of Kawasaki in 1993 to mark the fifth anniversary of their Sister City relationship. The shape of the bridge is called taiko-bashi (drum bridge) in Japanese. I’m really enjoying having some extra time with I’m really enjoying having some extra time with this ❤️ while she’s on school holidays. The littlest things right now are just so enjoyable. Day trips to the zoo, exploring new parks and meeting up with friends for the first time in so many months. We are extremely grateful to have this bit of freedom back. Who’s new at the zoo? We had a special outing at Who’s new at the zoo? We had a special outing at @tarongazoo today to see the new African Savannah precinct. Giraffes, lions, meerkats, zebra and fennec foxes all roam freely in their new custom-made homes. We were impressed by their beautiful big spaces, full of enrichment for the animals. Giraffes hold a special place in my heart - did you know that they have the largest eyes of all land mammals and can see sharply up to 2km away? They’re also rated as vulnerable to endangered, depending on the sub species, with two critically endangered and on the verge of quietly going extinct.
