Mel and Keeva’s Wedding

A wonderful way to finish up the Christmas period, with my friends Mel and Keeva’s wedding. The weather has been gloomy this week, and was overcast for Mel’s wedding on the 27th too, driving us indoors for the ceremony.  It was a ceremony with a glorious view though – overlooking the harbour, framed by the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The ceremony was lovely, the reception lots of fun, and we met a bunch of super-nice people. What a fabulous day!

My beautiful friend Mel.
My debonair partner.

Congratulations guys, thank you for including us in your amazing day!

Our Pre-wedding Shoot with the Dogs

Somehow I managed to get Alec to agree to a pre-wedding shoot with the dogs. I was super-keen to get some really nice photos of our little family as I have few if any that are really nice quality, and the pooches can’t be involved in our wedding at all.

We met our wonderful photographer, Vincent Lai, at Bicentennial Park for an hour of pooch fun.

I just love the photos – here is a small selection of my faves.

Singapore, The Highlights

The final destination – Singapore, for our dear friends Beverly and Chris’ wedding.

Arriving in Singapore was quite a shock to the system. It was so hot and humid, it was like swimming through the air to try and get anywhere. In light of the weather, I could see why the national past times are eating and shopping.

We arrived in the evening, had a relaxing night, then spent the next day with the bridal couple for their hens and bucks days.

At the joint brunch in the morning.

Brunch was followed by manicure and pedicures, and then high tea! What a gorgeous day.

The girls – all primped and polished.

The next day, Saturday the 8th, was the big wedding day. I was honored to be asked to be one of Beverly’s “sisters” for the day, which meant we arrived at Bev’s aunt’s house early in the morning to participate in the claiming of the bride ritual, as well as getting to observe the tea ceremony.

The “sisters” plus bride and bridesmaid.

The next part of the day was the church ceremony – Bev looked stunning in her white gown.

Finally married! Massive congrats guys!

The reception was fabulous fun and a great way to end the day. The evening was punctuated with touching slideshows, particularly one from Bev’s parents, which made several of us shed a few tears.

Dressed in our finery.

Bev’s last dress change – stunning in red.

With the gorgeous couple. Love you both – thank you for including us in your beautiful day.

Lindeman Island Day 3 – Relaxing

With no obligations today, we were free to relaaaax.

The view from our window.

I thought it would be a great idea for another bush walk – this time up to the top of the mountain on the island to admire the amazing view. It was about a 9km round trip, so it was a decent effort at exercise on another super steamy day.

Well worth the trek for the view.

Cooling down.

And chilling out.

Little fellow who hitched a ride on Alec’s arm.

Drinking cocktails in the bar after our arduous climb.

A dip after lunch for further cooling.

Very conveniently located bar.

The peering statue that reminded Alec of me.

The foreshore of the resort.

Lindeman Island Day 2 – The Wedding

The day started hot and humid, so we decided to go on a bush walk through the national park lands to see Coconut Beach. When we asked staff for directions, they looked at us with some puzzlement … which we later realised to be because they were wondering why we would want to trek though the bush on a day so humid most people didn’t leave the pool?!

The walk was beautiful. Extremely hot though, so we were sweating profusely after about five minutes of walking.

Cute bird – we saw them all over the island. They had cute little tail feathers that flicked up and down when they ran.

Lake with water lilies.

Finally, Coconut Beach!

Woo hoo!

Ahem …

It looks a lot more overcast here than it actually was.

Our walk was a bit longer than expected and we indulged a little too much at lunch – making us almost miss the wedding. A stressful half hour ensued where we washed sea salt out of our hair, threw on clothes, and ran up several hills in our party clothes to make the ceremony. We were on time, but were sweating a lot! On the plus side, if gave me a chance to try out my strategy with my new silver slingbacks that refuse to stay on. I bought some ribbon and tied them around the shoe – and they stayed on like a dream, even running – uphill!

The ceremony. Candice looking radiant with her new husband, Matt.

Awwww…

In front of the golf course following the ceremony, in a fit of romance.

After the 2pm ceremony there was a gap of three hours before the reception, so we went back to the room, showered again to remove the sweat, and relaxed. If felt much better getting dressed again in the cool early evening with plenty of time to spare.

The reception set up – all white candles and lace. Very pretty and elegant.

Cute little cupcakes.

Entry of the bridal couple.

Alec looking happy and relaxed.

Dessert tasting platter.

Us with Kat, one of Candice’s oldest friends, and Sarla, a friend from ACP.

No explanation needed. I can’t help myself.

Alec wonders why it took so long for the flash to go off.

Happy happy day!

Isis & Matt’s Wedding

After a week of tumultuous weather, Saturday was stunningly perfect for my good friend Isis’ wedding – especially since it was to be held outdoors!

The ceremony as held at Observatory Hill in Sydney, in a rotunda. The view was stunning, so it was easy to see why it is such a popular wedding location.

Isis is Indian and her now-husband, Matt, is a Kiwi, so together they had a wedding that was a bit Indian, a touch Kiwi and a lot of Aussie.

The set-up for the Indian-fusion ceremony.

The stunning bride walked down the aisle by her adorable parents.

A lot of the ceremony was in Hindi I believe, so we didn’t really know what was going on. It sounded amazing, whatever they were saying!

Some blessing was going on here. And promising to be good to each other of course.

Exchanging flower garlands.

Making it official.

Flowers for tossing. Because of the breeze they went in the opposite direction than desired and landed on the guests – a nice fragant shower of flowers.

The groom’s awesome shoes.

Happy day! All dressed up.

The bride’s hands – covered in intricate henna designs. Her feet were covered too.

The very happy bride!

STUNNING location!

Being tourists and LOL-ing.

Aww – romance was in the air!

A full-length shot of my purty dress.

After the ceremony we had time to kill so we stopped by La Renaissance Patisserie Francaise in Argyle St at the Rocks for coffee and, erm, snacks.

The display alone had me drooling.

My raspberry tart. So divine I could have happily eaten a few more. Then again, I am quite the little piggy.

Alec’s mixed berry tart. Almost as good as the ones we had in Estonia.

Being such tourists.

The bridal couple changed into Western outfits for the reception.

The cake! It was uber tasty – some kind of moist vanilla cake with lemon-ish cream.

The set-up. The boat was called the Vagabond Princess.

Happy!

Unsure what’s going on.
Making their entrance.

Appetisers!

More awwwww.

Lunch! Indian-fusion tastiness.

The bridal couple did a very nontraditional dance – starting with a waltz, then breaking into an Indian routine, followed by hip-hop. It was so unexpected and so very very funny.

Posing with our friends.

After the cruise we went to Opera Bar with the bridal couple and friends for more celebrating. We watched the sun go down and had lots of laughs as the bride and groom were able to unwind and enjoy themselves.

Being complete tourists again.

Sun setting over one of Australia’s most well-known pieces of architecture – the Sydney Opera House.

Alec does his Wolverine impression.

The perfect end to the perfect day! Best of luck Isis and Matt, and thanks for involving us in your special day!

Newcastle Wedding

Fresh from our Japan trip we drove up to Newcastle for Kristy and Kade’s wedding. I didn’t take many pics – I was all photo’d out after taking over a thousand pics in Japan. No captions needed I think – lovely day, beautiful couple, awesome veggie food. Great day!

Wedding Bonanza

My dearest Shelby is getting married! I am so happy for her and so excited! We spent Sunday in full-wedding mode, flicking through bridal mags, looking things up on the internet and watching the best wedding movie of them all, Muriel’s Wedding. Shell and I have loved Muriel’s Wedding for many years, so it provided the perfect background for the pigging out (oh yes, there were lollies!) and wedding-overload.

Even though Shell has her ring, we ended up looking at jewellery sites anyway. I found a few pieces that I thought were just beautiful. I don’t want to look at the prices, I just want to appreciate the exquisite designs from Canturi and Tiffany.

I can’t believe how much cakes cost! I can’t find a pic of the amazing bird cage cake we saw, but we also checked out these. The first one is taken from a illustrator who designs amazing cards and more in the design below. Beautifully done.

This one was a bit of a surprise. A little saucy for a wedding perhaps?

I also introduced Shell to my fave website, Etsy, where they have an amazing wedding section where you can get the most amazing handmade things like invitations, stationary in general, cake toppers, jewellery, table decorations and more.
