Julia’s 30th Birthday

Celebrating Julia’s 30th birthday. I can’t believe we’re all this old now! Check out Rosalie – not long to go now till the little one appears.

30th Birthday with Zumbo!

Alec sweetly organised a small gathering of friends at my favourite cafe, the Adriano Zumbo Chocolat Cafe in Balmain, to celebrate my 30th in Sydney.

The cafe closed early to accommodate us, and we had the entire (tiny!) place to ourselves for the early evening.

A selection of Zumbo’s cakes and macaroons. Soon to be demolished.

With my excellent party planner.

Beck! We’ve been friends since we were toddlers.

With Mel and Keeva. Mel and I went to uni together, 10 years ago now!

Katia and Emily – Googler and ex-Googler.

The rest of my work gal pals, Fadhila, Leanne, Jenn and Vic.

My old school friends, Karyn, Julia, Ro and Rodney. Loving Ro’s ever-growing baby bump.

After the sugar high, Alec and I checked into the Observatory Hotel for the evening, and took a visit to the Sydney Observatory for their night tour. The highlight was looking through the telescope and seeing Jupiter.

We then went back to the room for a relaxing, luxurious night. Thank you Alec for making this the most special birthday ever. Love you 🙂

Liam’s 1st Birthday

A trip out to Bronte today for little Liam Duff’s first birthday party. I just love kids parties with fairy bread everywhere.

Alec and the wee birthday lad.

The sun came out briefly and we stopped by the beach on the way home.

Lisa’s B’day Dinner

For a belated birthday celebration, we had dinner at Not Bread Alone at Crows Nest. I did take pics, but the lighting was terrible and the photos were awful, so no food pics!

The lovely birthday girl with Matt.

Happy to be out of the house after a week on the couch.

Back at Lisa and Matt’s – meet hat cat!

I think Monkeypants objects to her new nickname.

Andrew Calman’s Farewell

Our dear friend Andrew is moving to Google NYC. He had a barbeque today in Centennial Park with family and friends to say goodbye to the Calmanator era.

I’m sorry to see another friend leave the country, but we will be staying with Calman (hopefully!) when we are in NYC in July, so we have something fun to look forward to.

We had such a lovely day, sitting in the autumn sun with friends and hanging out with the Duffs, Calman and his friends and family.

Baby Liam Duff and mum Chantal are too adorable for words.

Close-up!

Nom nom nom!

The most photographed baby in the world 🙂

Boys bond for the last time in Sydney.

Umm … I don’t know what to say about this.

Daniel’s Surprise 30th Birthday Party

While Alec was in Mountain View we were organising a surprise 30th birthday party for his best friend, Daniel. It was quite a lot of organising, and I was a little concerned that things would completely fall apart at the last minute, but everything went to plan and the birthday boy was both totally surprised and happy to see all of his friends gathered for the occasion.

Daniel blows out the candles … yes, that is a swan cake.

Alec was so tired by this stage. I picked him up at the airport at 7am, then the cake at 9am. We both look tired and relieved that it all worked out!

Happy 30th Daniel!

Narrabeen & Counter Burgers

On this beyond hot day, Alec and I took a trip to Narrabeen to cool off.

Afterward we meet Matt and Lisa for dinner at Counter Burger, Crows Nest.

We ended the night at Matt and Lisa’s place watching Scrubs.

The Counter, Crows Nest: A Final Farewell for Beverly

Pics from one last lunch with Beverly and Lisa before Beverly takes off to Shanghai. We had to check out a new place at Crows Nest, The Counter – custom burgers.

Lots to chose from!

’50s style diner.

Sweet potato and onion rings.

Most awesome shakes ever!

Fries with cheese – a bit oily and could do with more cheese.

Lisa’s burger.

My vege burger – dissected.

Beverly’s burger.

My final Tokidoki bag! I got it for a great price on eBay.

Adriano Zumbo – The Wonder Years

Back again for more food! This time Lisa and Matt came with us, as did Buffy and Kahlua.

We decided finally to order proper food at the Chocolat Cafe, and it was fabulous!

Buffy drove us there. She is an excellent driver.

Ricotta pancakes. Yuuum!

Matt and multiple quiches.

My bircher muesli. Awesome!

Lisa ordered the Paris.

A little cuddle from Dad.

Buffers loves the attention.

They make awesome coffee.

Hulk hug!

I am trying one new dessert each time we visit. This time it was The Wonder Years.

It arrived in a kidney dish!
Interactive dessert!

Molten chocolate! Yuuum!
