Xmas Dinner at Wedgetail

I had a delightful dinner at Wedgetail restaurant in Newtown. It was quite hard to find, nicely tucked away behind trees in Newtown Square, across the road from Newtown Station.

I met my old girlfriends from school there for our annual Xmas dinner. I had found a review in the Good Food Guide, which listed it as the best pizza in Newtown. Big call. I had to try it for myself to be the judge.

We decided to share several dishes, including a mushroom bruscetta, haloumi salad and large pizzas. I had a vegetarian one with goats cheese, parmesan and tomato. We also all had desserts – mine was a lemon tart with roast peach, some kind of gelato and peach granita. Delicious! It was also pretty cheap – ended up being $30 each.

The discrete front.

Dog statue out the front. I love how pro-dog the area is. I saw several cuties being walked while I was there, and one adorable little fella who wandered into the restaurant to say hi while his owner waited outside, calling him to come back out.

After the secret Santa present opening and feasting had taken place, we posed for a group photo. Merry Christmas girls! Thanks for a great night 🙂

Three Bloggers and Two Fiesty Ferrets

What happens when three obsessed bloggers get together for dinner and gossip? A night of food, fashion and ferrets – like Bev’s blog come to life.

Bev, Lisa and I had dinner at the St James Hotel, which is a fave of Bev’s. I’ve never been there before, but I was delighted at the cheap, tasty food. Schnitzel for $10!

After a bit of window shopping, we head back to Bev’s place for some delicious imported chocolates. They were some of the nicest chocolate I have ever eaten – soft creamy centre with rice crisps. Yum!

Lisa mid-(ecstatic)bite.

Action shot – Beverly photo-ing the chocolate for her blog.

I broke my sugar detox for a few of these amazing treats.

No visit to Bev’s is complete without some ferret play. The vids below only begin to capture the lunacy. 🙂

Saturday Fun

After a good morning climbing session with Nicko and Hamish, I dropped by Beverly’s b’day BBQ pool party. It was a little nerve-wracking not really knowing anyone there, but it was also good for forcing me to be more social and meet people. I met some of Bev’s really nice friends, had my first swim for the summer and ate some tasty food. Not bad for a Saturday.

Alec and I mucked around with the Flip Video I got from the YouTube launch during the week. I love how quick and easy it was to use. Especially uploading to YouTube. I’m planning on using it to take MANY videos of my cute puppies.

Alec is off to Mountain View again tomorrow. I miss him already just thinking about it 🙂

Girls Night In

Rosalie held a Girls Night In to raise money for the breast cancer foundation. A company called “Fashion 2U” (I think) came around and it was basically like a tupperware party … but with clothes. Much more fun. I wish all shopping was like that – coming to you in all sizes in the privacy of your home.

It was so much fun to try on clothes with friends and eat the awesome food Rosalie provided for us. I ended up getting a shiny disco top and black shorts – for only $53. Bargain!

Thanks Ro for being the hostess again. Hope we raised a good amount for charity!

Happy Birthday Rosalie!

For the beautiful Rosalie – Happy Birthday!
We had dinner last night at Casa Del Nico for Rosalie – delicious food and great company.

Happy Birthday Jules!

For Jules’ 28th birthday Alec and I drove out to the fabulous inner west for lunch at the Union Hotel. What a great day! Really nice food, the best company, and we re-discovered how much we love the inner west.

Jules, me and Shells.
After lunch Alec and I walked around King St. I love the cafe above – cutest name ever, plus all the adorable dogs outside!

One of this things I love about the area is how dog friendly it is. So many adorable pooches trotting around. Also many great shops with cute clothes and cheap second-hand books. The Elizabeth Book Store for example, sells very good quality second-hand books for around $8 each. Bargain! No chain stores in sight, just lots of boutiques and friendly people.

My Big Day Out

I’ve been super lazy lately so it felt good to have an active day again.

I started the day with a quick climb with Mel at St Leonards Gym, then Alec and I picked up Vladan to check out bathroom parts. We selected a colour theme, tiles, vanity, etc – I can’t wait till it’s done now. We chose a Mediterranean kind of theme – very rich blue floor tiles, stark white wall tiles with blue mosaic pieces as a stripe to run horizontally around the room, and an awesome vanity with lights in the mirror to make up for the terrible lighting in the bathroom.

After bathroom shopping we stopped at my fave Chatswood cafe, Marcello, for lunch. I ordered an open avocado, tomato, bacon and Camembert cheese sandwich with the best ice chocolate in Sydney. It looked so impressive I had to photo it.

After lunch I had to rush to make my 4pm dance class at Sydney Dance with Daniel. We love crazy Kassey’s class, and today was no exception. Lots of fun and make me feel better about all the chocolate I’ve been eating lately.

A quick shower and I was on the road again, this time to Emily and Lorin’s Sydney wedding bash. Em looked radiant, there was lots of tasty food (yes, I am a piggy and I did shovel it as soon as I found the mammoth block of cheese) and great company – a big bunch of Googlers.

Em passed around jello shots and equally popular strawberrys and dipping chocolate. Yuuuuum. What a busy, great day!

The beautiful Emily and her potent jello shots.

With the rest of the Google girls.

Goodbye Emily

Today was my dear friend Emily’s last day at work.

We celebrated her time with us in true Google fashion – with copious amounts of food and sangria.

Last photo in the Google office. I miss you already Em!

Aya and Matt’s Hens and Bucks Night

My first joint bucks and hens night was held tonight at the Great Northern Hotel.

The girls arrived for for dinner and gossip, while the boys got completely hammered at Daniel’s place. With bottles thrown, a PSP lost and one man down, they finally arrived at the Northern for a late dinner and more alcy-hol. Some steak-stealing, yelling, rapping and head-butting later, Alec and I head on home to watch the end of Forrest Gump.

With Ayako the hen.

With Ayako and Shannon, cousin of the groom.

Alec loves pink. A lot.

Bourne Fest

In preparation for the third Bourne movie, 13 of Alec’s friends and one brave girlfriend came over tonight for pizza and Matt Damon perving. Sorry, that was just me. 🙂

Sunset over Darling Harbour on the way home.

I’ve never seen so much pizza in my life.

Daniel is keen for a camera like mine. Here he is testing it out. Awesome self-portrait.
